If you've not been to Lake Jocassee (Devils Fork St Pk) just google it. Crystal clean water surrounded by forested mountains with waterfalls coming dropping directly into the lake. Great swimming, cool night time temps. Location is as far up in the NW corner of the state you can get to. Sweet kayaking, paddleboarding, swimming. Since Julie is not paddling this year for her broken collarbone she plans on taking one of the pontoon boat tours from the company we used in the past to tow our kayaks to the furthest point up in North Carolina for us to paddle back. In fact, look up "Lake Jocassee tours" and you'll get some of the finest photos of what to expect.
Great trip and the only chance you may get to a sold out campground.
The trip is scheduled for Thur 9/22 - Sun 9/25. Martha's dates may vary. The main long paddle is Friday with Saturday set for a casual paddle or whatever. We're staying over to come home Monday.
