Ashley River 12 Bridge Challenge, June 19, 2021
Author Last Post

Please join me on this grand adventure!

Registrations encouraged, cancellations required.

Logistics: We will launch from W.O. Thomas Boat Landing, aka Leeds Ave (County Farm) landing at 8:00 a.m. SHARP!! Immediately we will go upriver and “capture” the 2 I-526 bridges then turn and proceed downriver with the tide. The goal is to be at the shell point at the intersection of the Ashley and Wappoo Cut by or close to low tide. (Low tide in Charleston harbor is 9:30.) (We are NOT going up Wappoo Cut.) After a rest period there we will paddle back up the Ashley with the incoming tide back to “recapture the 2 I-526 bridges and then finish at the W.O. Thomas Boat Landing. There will be opportunity for other stops along the way in both directions.

This is a L3 paddle due to the length of approximately 16 miles. All paddlers must wear a PFD with a whistle, should have ample water and all other food and supplies as they see fit for this length of a paddle.  Note, please do not park in the trailer spaces at the launch. With the time we are launching (yes, 8:00 a.m.) there should be car spaces available. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact me.
