The Sparkleberry club paddle will soon be here, and this is a reminder to make your camping reservations for Friday, May 8 and/or Saturday, May 9 at POINSETT State Park. (Yes, Poinsett, NOT Santee this year.) Friday we will arrive and relax around the campsites, Saturday we will explore Sparkleberry, and Sunday the 10th we will take a scouting trip to Persanti Island, launching from Carolina King Retreat, which is on Lake Marion on the same side as Sparkleberry. The club has gone to this island in the past for overnight kayak camping trips, but it has been part of Santee Cooper’s Super Flats Restoration Project since 2021. We are going to check on the island's accessibility and it's suitability for future overnight kayak trips. I hope to have lots of folks join in both days.
