🌊 Lowcountry Paddlers: Summer Sizzle Recap & What's Next! ☀️
Picnic + Paddling = Summer Vibes!
This past Sunday, we kicked off summer in classic Lowcountry style with our annual picnic at James Island County Park—under the shady Stono Shelter, right by the fishing dock. A small but mighty crew of paddlers rolled their yaks down the endless pier and splashed into Stono Creek via the floating launch. We stuck to the calm, protected waters, enjoying a scenic (but way-too-short!) cruise through the marsh.
Grill Masters & Gullywashers
After our paddle, we gathered at the shelter for some serious grill action. Massive shoutout to Dan and John, our fearless picnic chefs, who braved the 90-degree heat and a sizzling grill to serve up juicy burgers and hot dogs! 🌭🍔
Just as we were settling in for max chill... BAM! A sideways rainstorm crashed the party and brought things to a soggy close a little earlier than planned. 🌧️⛈️
Looking Ahead
Mark your calendars! The next picnic will be this fall, at the tail end of the “warm” paddling season. We’re also planning to launch next summer's kickoff paddle earlier—in April or May—when it’s cooler and less... swamp sauna-ish.

Some folks have asked for a SUP training class—Bev is on it! Stay tuned for details. (Sadly, County Parks isn’t offering SUP or kayaking classes this year… but we’ve got your back!)
