LCP Picnic Information: JUNE 8, JAMES ISLAND COUNT...
Bev Cosslett

The Lowcountry Paddlers picnic is just a few weeks away! If you haven’t signed up yet, now’s the time. It’s going to be a great time—you won’t want to miss it! Here's the button below to register for the picnic:

Events

Date/Location: Sunday, June 8, at James Island Country Park, Stono Shelter has been reserved for us

10:00 AM: Launch for a Level 1 easy paddle trip at the Fishing Pier (James Island County Park) to paddle the marsh creek

Noon: E A T !!! Club provides the meat/veggie option, everyone brings sides, dessert, and drinks

After Lunch: There’s a volleyball court available, but since I’m not really into volleyball, I’m bringing badminton rackets instead! It’s easy to pick up—and way more fun, in my opinion.

Friendly reminder: Our club is on a mission to kick single-use plastics to the curb! So, please bring your own reusable plates and utensils to the picnic. (Don’t worry—we’ve got a stash of old plastic stuff for anyone who forgets. But let’s save those for emergencies!)

I need a few volunteers to help out:

  1. Someone to buy hot dogs and hamburgers, and buns
  2. Someone to buy Portabella mushrooms (veggie option!)
  3. Someone to be at the picnic table shelter a bit before noon to help set up

Our social Director, Nancy, is out of the country, so please send Bev a message if you can help out! 914-299-0919.

Thanks!

Bev Cosslett

Here's an update on the volunteers supporting the LCP Picnic:

Cooks: Dan H and John Gabris have stepped up to cook this year! woo!!!...thank you both!

Hotdogs & Burgers & odds & ends: Dan H will buy and get refunded from club funds.

Veggie - Portabella Mushrooms: Don D will buy and get refunded from club funds.

Dan has the club picnic supply boxes and will bring them to the picnic.

Is there anyone who is willing to show up to the Stono Shelter before noon to help set up table cloths and help organize the sides and desserts that people bring to share?

Bev will lead the paddle from the fishing dock, launch time is 10:00 am. Bring your wheels, it's a long carry down the pier to the dock. Bev is bringing badminton gear for after lunch

Cowboy - and Craig Hammer will do setup !  THANK YOU!

Heads up, party people! Dan Hoke is holding onto the LCP bins full of picnic goodies. Fingers crossed, he’ll be dropping them off at the Stono Shelter in James Island County Park around 10am—just in time, before we hit the water. I’ll check in with him to lock it in.

Cowboy and Craig are on setup duty—they’ll have everything ready to roll before noon so we can fire up the grill right on time.

The paddle crew will launch from the fishing dock at 10:00am and glide back in around 11:30, just in time to stash the gear and hustle over to the shelter for some good eats!

Badminton rackets: packed. Competitive spirit: fully charged.

Can’t wait to see everyone there—it’s going to be a blast! 🛶🍔🏸🌞

Looking forward to it !

Hi,

Let me repeat Bev on an earlier post. If you are coming to the picnic Sunday please sign up now. If you don't. I may not have bought enough burgers to go around. I plan to buy things Thursday.

loThanks

Unfortunately I wont be able to make it after initially thinking I would be able to. Hope everyone has fun!

Dan Hoke
It's a bit late I know. Sidetracked today. I was wrong saying there may not be enough burgers for everyone. If you free up tomorrow, come on out to the picnic. There are plenty of burgers and dogs to go around.

I am not in town so I cannot go to the picnic, but I agree with Karl that this should happen after church hours. Perhaps that will be considered next year?

Sadly sometimes it just works out. I have the option to skip while Julie is singing worship team.

Sadly if I don’t go to church and run the sound and video the people can’t hear the ministers

Hi,

A thermos was left at the picnic yesterday afternoon. If it's yours, give me a call at 843-291-3141.
