Sadly, we'll miss these with family in town. Have fun out there.
Think how nice we have it. I just receive an email announcing a paddle up in MD. "This is a cold water paddle. Dry suits required."

I wanted to remind everyone of the Show and Go on Horseshoe and Chessey Creeks this Thursday and then the Wambaw/Chicken Creek paddle on Sunday.
Weather looks pretty good!

Launch from Prices Bridge Landing by 9:30 on Thursday, March 27. (Put Prices Bridge Landing in your mapping app…or 3221 Price Bridge Ln, Walterboro….and do not go down any dirt roads your gps may tell you to take.)
Doing the loop down Horseshoe Creek, up Chessey, Creek, and then back through canals.. Total distance is about 7.5 miles and would be a club L2.
We’ll paddle downstream for a couple of miles facing the last 2 hours of the incoming tide, before turning on to Chessey Creek.. We’ll turn up Chessey Creek and have the rest of the incoming tide help us paddle upstream. We’ll take a break at Chessey Creek Landing, then proceed along several canals as we head back towards Horseshoe Creek. The outgoing tide will help us.
I always worry that this trip will be clogged with invasive aquatic weeds, but they should not impact us this early in the year.
Weather forecast is upper 60's and sunny. Trip is VERY sheltered.
I expect to be off the water by 2:15.
Please let me know if you plan to come.
Wambaw Creek and Santee River
Sunday, March 30, 2025, 8:30 AM until 3:00 PM Eastern Time (US & Canada) (UTC-05:00)
March 30: Sunday): Wambaw Creek and Santee River: Wambaw Creek Bridge, up the Santee to Chicken Creek, and then back down Chicken Creek for the return leg. About 12 miles. Non club members and member guests must contact the trip leader before the trip. Boat type, size, and paddling skills should be discussed with the trip leader.
Rating: L3, sheltered
Where: Meet at Wambaw Creek Bridge and be ready to launch by 9:00.(Put Wambaw Creek Boat Ramp in your mapping app. Do not be confused with Wambaw Creek Still Landing...that is the wrong landing). Launch by9:00 . Logistics: High tide on the Santee at the South Santee intersection is about 11:00. We’ll go against the incoming tide for about 2 miles going out Wambaw Creek. The incoming tide will help us go up the South Santee River. We’ll take a break at the intersection of Chicken Creek and the Santee River and then paddle back with the falling tide to Wambaw Creek, where out last 2 miles will be against the outgoing tide. Expect to be back at the landing by 3:00 Trip leader: Ralph Earhart
Note 1: We will have about 4 miles total going against the tide, but on Wambaw Creek, it really is not much of an issue.
Note 2: If the Santee River is high, this will not work. If that happens, the club will be notified and the trip will be moved to Wadboo Creek, going upstream on Saturday, the day before.
