Please let me know date range selected so I can put on club calendar….Thanks

Would have loved to go kayaking on Saturday but the grandkids are off from school Friday so will be taking them camping.

Thank you Martha for posting this!  I would prefer Sept 18-21/22 but can also go with Sept 11-14/15 if the rest prefer those dates.

A grand time was had by all!  Next year I am going to leave time to explore Travellers Rest and avoid the toll road route. :)

LET'S RESERVE SITES NOW FOR 2025.  It will cost you nothing to reserve and you can cancel 60 days (I think that is the right number) in advance without penalty, or pay $10. much closer to the date.

I liked our September date because the water was still quite warm. However, I'm flexible.  We should put this on the calendar now. Please suggest dates that you like covering 3 or 4 nights.  We all arrived on Thursday and spent that day setting up our camps, exploring, etc.

Labor Day 2025 will be on September 1st.  Therefore, I suggest: Sept. 11 - 14/15  or Sept. 18 - 21/22.

I was on site #21 and we were clustered around that area. Everyone was happy with their site.

If this trip appeals to you, please post your interest and let's reserve the sites now. They fill up quickly, even a year in advance.

I hope you can join us next year!  Martha

Hi,

I thought I’d get out an update on this years Jocassee paddle. We had a small group of 5 out this year with everyone camped almost in shouting distance. You may remember last week the doom and gloom forecast we had for the weekend. Well, it rained some on the drive up and more that first night, but the rest of the time it was dry. On getting out to the launch Friday morning we quickly noted, “no paddle today” as the wind was up with waves breaking everywhere, so we went exploring and did a hike. Saturday, we found out was the FOB, Friends of Jocassee VIP trash cleanup day. The wind was up again which kept our more out of shape paddlers on shore, while 3 of us went out in our kayaks to find a treasure trove of trash in the small creek inlets. Sunday brought out the sun and really nice weather for the drive home for most of the crew while Julie and I explored a couple local towns, a winery and tea plantation. If you do make it up there on your own, a must hit spot is the “Jocassee Valley Brewing Company”. Think coffee house atmosphere and good beer. Then add food truck and music on the weekends. Check out their website, good trip and very close by. Overall, it was sad we didn’t paddle to waterfalls, but we did hike to a couple. I believe everyone had a good time and best yet is Miriam will likely get her next rescue dog out of this weekend.

Don’t forget the Otter Island paddle this Saturday out of Edisto Beach.
